It's here....Summer! With summer comes certain events that I participate in every year including the county fair art show. I enter two pieces every year in hopes of winning a prize or just some recognition for my art and enjoy seeing all the art on display.
I feel like there aren't enough venues for artists to be discovered or displayed. Where I live the fair is one of the most viewed mostly because it is at the fair and when people go to enjoy the midway they stop to see the displays as well. I am a professional graphic designer so I enter in the professional category every year, I also enter my children's school art projects into the youth category based on their ages. They love to see their work on display and getting ribbons as well. This year I did a drawing of my daughter in pastels and also a watercolor painting. The drawing I did just from a photo I liked of my daughter when she was littler than she is now. The watercolor was inspired by the current political dilemma at the US/Mexico border. I wanted to portray the pain of separation for children from their parents. I don't want to offend anyone with my work but I have strong feelings about harming children to punish parents and I needed to let some of that frustration I have been feeling out through my work. So below is the painting I will be entering this year. I'm sure it will cause a stir but I hope the piece can be appreciated for more than just it's political statement. The watermark/name on it is to deter duplication.
